The birth of a group blog... (August/10)
In the wake of this year’s RNA conference at Greenwich, fellow writers and friends
Julie Cohen, Anna Louise Lucia, Brigid Coady, Christina Courtenay, and Liz Fenwick
have joined me in starting a new group blog, The Heroine Addicts, in which we discuss
many writerly things.. We post on Thursdays and Sundays, so do drop in and visit.
The Shadowy Horses makes the Bestseller List (July/10)
...And only thirteen years after it was first published, too! Thanks to the tireless
efforts of my amazing Canadian distributers, Georgetown Publications, and their incomparable
marketing director Brian Skerrett, not to mention all the booksellers and fans who
got behind the book, the recent re-issue of The Shadowy Horses spent four incredible
weeks in the top ten titles on the Globe and Mail’s Canadian Fiction bestseller list.
A great way to start off the summer!
Giveaway Part II - The Winners! (June/10)
My heartfelt thanks to everyone who entered. I never knew I had so many fans in Australia!
I’ll have to start saving my pennies to travel there...
Again, while I’d love to be able to give you all free copies of The Shadowy Horses, I sadly only have two copies going spare, so the following two people, chosen at random, will each be getting one:
Susie Moreton, from Australia
Hilda Schnell, from Canada
Season of Storms Giveaway – The Winners! (Mar/10)
This being my first ever contest, I had no idea what to expect. There were so many
entrants that, in the end, I decided there ought to be more than one winner. The
following four people, selected at random, have each won a copy of the new UK re-issue
of Season of Storms:
Teresa Händel, from Iceland
Marijana Bacic, from Australia
Eric Wilson, from the USA
Barbara Regis, from Italy
To everyone who entered, thank you so much for your emails and for all the kind and encouraging things you said about my books. I’m sorry I couldn’t make all of you winners, but given the success of this first contest I’m sure I’ll be running another one when the next book comes out, so perhaps next time...?
Mariana released in audio (Jan/10)
Again from Oakhill Publishing, and with the same wonderful narrator – Carolyn Bonnyman
– who did such a great job with Sophia’s Secret, comes the unabridged audio book
of Mariana. You can click here for details.

Well, an honorary one, at least! This coveted status, I’m told, entitles me to add the initials “H.W.W.” after my name, which will I think lend a Certain Something to my signature from here on in. My thanks to the gracious and talented Nicola Cornick, who interviewed me for a guest spot on the Word Wenches blog, and to all the other wenches for being so welcoming. You can read my interview with Nicola here.
Sophia’s Secret audio book from Oakhill Publishing (Oct/09)

Oakhill, who also recorded my thriller Every Secret Thing, have just released their audio book version of Sophia’s Secret (aka The Winter Sea), and I’m completely in love with the voice of the narrator, Carolyn Bonnyman. I could listen to her read me the phone book, I think, and it’s marvellous hearing her switch between Carrie’s Canadian accent and Jimmy Keith speaking the Doric. Here are the links for Oakhill’s versions of Sophia’s Secret and Every Secret Thing.
Mariana is now available as an ebook (Sept/09)

My UK publishers, Allison & Busby, have released their first ever ebooks, and they’ve selected Mariana as one of this first group, so if you live in the UK, Canada, or any of the Commonwealth countries, you can now buy and download Mariana at your leisure. Here’s the entire announcement from Allison & Busby’s blog.
